In Memory of “Bo”
I’m always stressing the importance of responsible ownership of these gorgeous animals and protecting them from ignorant and unscrupulous people. My husband works in an exotic bird store and I hear horror stories of neglect and abuse all too often! People are always bringing in injured or distressed birds; some of them near death, in hopes to save them. Unfortunately, it’s too late for a lot of them.
Below is a video about a sad yet loving Mollucan Cockatoo, named Bo. Abused and neglected, he was rescued from a pet store. When cockatoos (or any bird for that matter) are sad or distressed, they may pluck their feathers severely which can eventually lead to other health problems or even death.
I have a female Mollucan Cockatoo whom I cherish dearly; she is my heart and soul! When I discover stories like this, I look at my precious Angel and I thank God for sending her to me for she is truly my angel. My heart breaks for Bo because I know how loving and devoted birds can be (especially Mollucans) to the people who genuinely love and care for them.
When someone says to me that they would never own a Mollucan because they are too loud, I can understand. However, all birds can be “too loud” at times. I think that’s part of their charm! But of all the bird species out there, Mollucans are the most loving birds I’ve ever encountered and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
So Bo and Angel, this post is dedicated to you
and all of the other beautiful creatures that you truly are!
